The Director’s Fellow program connects a global community of charismatic and visionary leaders to the antidisciplinary research culture of the MIT Media Lab.

While discovering, designing and developing the MIT Media Lab website we used instagram as a temporary micro site. We launched and produced a series of informative and inspirational content.

Through curated content and a series of video interviews we aimed to show the mission of the program - to expand and inspire new perspectives and the fellows’ unique stories of the cohort as thought leaders, and ambassadors of the Media Lab.

Khalida Brohi is founder and executive director of Sughar Foundation USA, a nonprofit dedicated to providing tribal and rural women in Pakistan with opportunities to nurture their leadership skills in an environment of growth and development, including resources to launch and sustain rural women-owned businesses.
Amanda Nguyen is the CEO and founder of Rise, a non-governmental civil rights organization. After navigating the broken criminal justice system following her own rape, she worked with legislators to draft the Sexual Assault Survivors' Bill of Rights, which passed unanimously through Congress.
Meet MIT Media Lab Directors Fellow Leland Melvin's. Leland's first NASA job was as an engineer at Langley Research Center, where he focused on nondestructive testing, creating optical fiber sensors for measuring damage in aerospace vehicles. He joined NASA's astronaut training program in 1998 but an underwater training incident made him deaf, disqualifying him from space flight.
Christine Sun Kim uses the medium of sound through technology and conceptual art to create a direct connection to society at large. She rationalizes and reframes her relationship with sound and spoken languages by using the audience's voice as her own, conducting a group of people to sing with facial movements (rather than sound), and composing visual scores with sign language and musical symbols.
The Venerable Tenzin Priyadarshi is director of the Ethics Initiative at the MIT Media Lab. He is recognized as an innovative thinker, philosopher, educator, polymath, and monk. Venerable Tenzin is also the founding director of the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT, a center dedicated to inquiry, dialogue, and education on the ethical and humane dimensions of life.
Ifeoma Fafunwa is the founder and creative director of iOpenEye Ltd, a Nigerian production company driving social change through performance art. She co-wrote and directed the popular stage play HEAR WORD! Naija Women Talk True-a collection of monologues based on true-life stories of Nigerian women, aimed at challenging social, cultural, and political norms that limit the potential and contribution of women.
